Focus and Scope

Folia Medica Indonesiana focuses on various disciplines of health sciences, such as biomedical and clinical sciences. The journal emphasizes high-quality research in phytopharmacy, particularly studies exploring the potential of traditional herbal medicines as supplements and/or therapeutic agents for infectious and metabolic diseases. We welcome submissions involving biomolecular, histopathological, pharmacological, and clinical pathology approaches, based on either human or animal studies. In addition, the journal covers the prevention, diagnosis, and management of infectious diseases and metabolic syndrome-related conditions, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and cardiovascular diseases which have shown an increasing trend over the past decade in Indonesia and other developing countries. The journal accepts high-quality papers ranging from basic to translational research, particularly from lower to upper middle-income countries, as defined by the World Bank. The aim is to ensure that published papers provide significant value to the development of health sciences research and education in these regions. Papers from high-income countries must demonstrate data and findings that contribute meaningfully to health sciences development in the priority nations. To ensure broad coverage of the vast array of health sciences and medical research, the FMI editorial team consists of nationally and internationally recognized researchers and clinicians from around the world.
